The Neighborhood

Cottage on House Pond resides on three wooded acres with nearly 500 ft of its own waterfront. This property has a secluded feel but is just a 3-minute drive to shopping, restaurants, the Wallenpaupack Brewery, a great ice-cream stand, incredible hiking trails, and “The Big Lake” (Lake Wallenpaupack), where one of only two public boat launches is easily accessible to our guests. House Pond, also known as Stonybrook Lake, is a private lake within a ten-home property owners association. It is known to be one of the best fishing locations in the area, featuring rock bass, lake perch, crappies, bluegill, and many more fish species. It is home to two separate bald eagle nests, one of which is next to our property. Across the lake is home to a pair of blue herons, and in the area are numerous land animals, such as deer and even an occasional black bear. If you are lucky enough to sight a bear, don’t panic! They are quite afraid of humans and will usually move on if they hear a loud noise. (But please don’t leave your garbage unsecured as it may draw them and other critters looking for a snack!)
